A training workshop was conducted at King Abdulla University Hospital in May, 2019 to train the focal points at the hospital on how to use the JSANDS surveillance system. The workshop was conducted by the JSANDS team. The head of nursing departments for the obstetric and maternity departments and the labour units at the hospital along with the head nurses of pediatric units and NICU attended the workshop. Senior staff from various maternity and pediatric departments also participated in the workshop. A demonstration was undertaken to enable the nurses to report all births as well as stillbirths and neonatal deaths. The Hospital general manager, Prof. Mohammad Alghazo and the vice manager, Prof. Basil Obeidat, have been very supportive of the surveillance system and are looking forward to take preventable measures to decrease neonatal deaths and stillbirths in Jordan. It’s worth mentioning that more than 2000 deliveries take place in the hospital each year.
